YouTube

I've decided...the best thing about the internet is YouTube. Nevermind that I'm constantly checking my Facebook or email...YouTube is my new obsession. In my quest to learn more about musical theater this semester, I think YouTube is going to be an amazing help. I'm not one to learn much by reading. I like reading (and I'm going to do it a bit more this semester as well) but I am a visual learner. Although you are looking at words, my reading comprehension has never been stellar and with the arrival of my Adult ADD well...reading is not something I can often settle down and do.

My quest to learn more about musical theater also includes a desire to know more pop culture in general. Although I'm pretty good at remembering the random names from TV shows and movies that are often found in a game of "celebrity," I'm kind of pop culture dumb. It's a lack of paying attention really. I'm great with faces or tunes but throw me a name and you can usually forget it!

As I'm looking for pop and rock songs this semester I've been using YouTube to remind me of the music of my past. Put in a search for Frankie Valli, click on a video and it takes you to Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs. I would NEVER have looked them up except that they sang "Stay." You know the scene in Dirty Dancing with the watermelon. That mentally takes me to movies I watched as a child including Footloose and Grease. So much music in my world!!!

Back to the pop songs....a student had me listen to Sam Cooke. Although a great song...not really for him. Then he picked Robert John "If You Don't Want My Love." Down the right side of the page was the Beach Boys "Wouldn't It Be Nice" which in turn led me to this video.

SANDY???? YES!!!

I know....I'm about 3 years behind but YouTube is awesome...
